Personal identity is dependent on socio-cultural components and how one chooses to express themselves. I handpicked some pictures that I think can express both my online identity and offline identity.
In the first row are expressions of my online identity while the bottom row are expressions of my offline identity. For online, I am very active in social media platforms or social networking sites such as Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. The first picture on the top row shows a picture of famous painter, Bob Ross. He's holding a palette and a paintbrush in front of his unfinished painting while saying, "That's alright. What matters is that everyone's happy." And I believe that is me on Instagram. I post pictures of my paintings or artworks on my Instagram and spread positivity sometimes on my Instagram stories or on my post captions. The second picture shows a girl holding an EXO lightstick, wearing EXO merchandise while being surrounded by EXO's albums and music video. This picture is edited of course but it expresses how I am like on Twitter and YouTube on such an accurate level. On Twitter, majority of my tweets are of EXO while on YouTube, all I watch are videos of them together either performing or guesting in variety shows. Lastly, the right most picture on the top row shows Rihanna sipping while side-eyeing someone or something. The word "tea" is being used as something else in social media these days. Saying "spill the tea, sis" means asking for gossip or asking what's up, what's going on, what's happening, etc. Usually "tea" meant someone getting "exposed" of who they truly are. For example, just recently, the most "piping hot tea" in social media right now is James Charles being exposed by a fellow YouTuber named Tati Westbrook. She revealed that he has been manipulating straight men into liking him and even doing an act of sexual assault before. He's now being labeled as a predator and recently lost more than a million followers and subscribers. I'm like Rihanna on things like these because I only watch all this mess unfold and sip my own tea, minding my own business.
For my offline identity, I picked three photos that could show how I act towards my friends and family in person or in real life. The first photo is of Santa Claus holding presents because I'm like a Santa Claus who loves giving gifts to my friends even when it's not the holidays. I love treating people, giving them little gifts and seeing them smile when I do so. Sometimes it is my way of thanking them for being in my life. The second picture is of a smiling sunshine. A lot of people call me a "ball of sunshine" and some of my acquaintances even gave me call me their "sunshine" as an endearment whenever we talk. They say it's because I'm smiling a lot, that I have a lot of energy, and I'm happy whenever they see me. I noticed too that I just want to be a ray of sunshine in everyone's lives, with open arms, like this picture of the sun, ready to hug those who need it. Lastly, the third one is a picture of a koala clinging onto a leg. "Clingy" is the keyword here. I am very clingy to my family especially to my mom and my younger brother. My older brother and my dad are kind of reserved when it comes to skinship and bonding, but I'm still clingy to them nevertheless, just not as much. I'm the most clingy with my mom because she's the family member I'm closest to, I grew up sleeping beside her, grew up under her rules and love. It's only natural that she's the one I miss the most whenever I am feeling homesick.
So those are my online and offline identities. There's a bonus one though.
And that's my outlook in life, both online and offline.
